Model answers

Section III (every Q16, 2015–2025) and Section II (every question, 2015–2025), written from the NESA marking guidelines and marking feedback. Codes in [brackets] point to the memorise pack.

How long? Section III (a) 5 marks: about 150–200 words. (b) 10–12 marks: about 300–450 words, with an introduction that states a judgement, one paragraph per point (each with a timber or furniture example), and a conclusion that answers the verb. Section II: 1 mark is about one line; 2–3 marks about 40–80 words; 4–5 marks about 100–180 words. Use the answer space as a guide. The (b) models below are 220–330-word cores built from the memorise pack: add one extra timber or furniture example of your own (for instance a business you studied in the Preliminary course) to reach the top of the range.

These are high-band model answers, not official NESA sample answers. Official sample answers are in the marking guidelines for each year.
